Nokia Lumia 920 – Specs, Details, and Pictures

As mentioned in our previous ‘Nokia & Microsoft Press Event‘ article, Nokia announced their new flagship phone; The Nokia Lumia 920.

Having only released the Lumia 900 a few months back what can Nokia have done to the 920 to make it that much better than its previous flag device? A lot as it happens, a lot.

Specs

The Lumia 920 will have a 4.5 inch Gorilla Glass 2 screen. The glass is curved like the Lumia 800 rather than the flat Lumia 900, which I personally feel gives it a more ‘futuristic’ finish. The screen will also tote Nokia’s new PureMotion HD+ technology, which Nokia claim is better than HD. The screen has a  WXGA resolution display (1280 x 768) and is said to be 25% brighter than the next best mobile phone display currently on the market. It is also the quickest LCD display that Nokia have shipped on a Smartphone.

Inside the polycarbonate chassis, which is now glossy rather than matte like the 800 & 900, is a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 to be precise, which will in turn be powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, the largest Nokia have ever bestowed upon a phone. The 920 can also be charged wirelessly if placed upon a compatible charging platform, in this case either the Fatboy charging platform/cushion which is available in myriad of colours, or one of Nokia’s own charging plates.

The Lumia 920 also comes with Nokia’s new “Super Sensitive Touch” technology which enables you to use your phone whilst wearing gloves. How this will prevent pocket dialing when your phone senses your thigh is currently unknown, but we’re sure that Nokia must have thought of that.

Camera & Photo Applications

The Lumia 920 will come with an 8.7 megapixel camera on the back, which features a “floating lens”. This means that the camera will be more stable when taking shots and will have excellent low light capabilities.Nokia also claim that the camera will capture between 5 to 10 times more light than any other smart phone on the market. The Lumia will come with several new apps at launch such as City Lens, Panorama, and the excellent Blink. Blink will take a series of photos when the camera button is depressed and will pick the one its thinks is best. If you happen to disagree with it, the rest of the photos it took are on the camera roll.

There are many press shots of the Lumia 920, and we have included the nice shiny ones here for your perusal, we even included the Fatboy wireless charging station, as simply put, its looks pretty darned cool.
